Hearing Aid Cleaning Case

My Story
At a young age, I quickly realized that I had expensive hearing aids that needed to be cared for on a daily basis. It required me to be responsible and mature. I never knew how important it was to take care of something until I realized that my hearing aids were not easily replaceable (such as a pair of eyeglasses for example). At the recommendation of my audiologist, I got a case to put my hearing aids in at night to keep them safe and to clean them while sleeping to help keep the longevity of them. This case helps clean the hearing aids from excess sweat, ear wax or anything else that might be on them. Of course, the very first case I had as a child has since evolved and developed along with technology. For my first case, I used a small “brick” additive (about the size of a one-dollar bill but a thicker size) to put inside of the case that essentially soaked up any moisture from the hearing aids. The bricks needed to be replaced every couple of months and as you can imagine, the bricks were not the easiest things to find or purchase. After a few years, technology finally advanced enough to have smaller cases, easier replacement parts, and easily powered cases. Of course, Amazon became my best friend for finding the best deals on these types of devices! For the case I use now, there are no additional charges involved with the device. This is especially nice because as most people know, hearing aids need other purchased items for daily functionality. The current case I have is something that I have used for many years and I have it pictured to the left for you to see. It currently sits on my nightstand and is the perfect size because it can easily pack in a bag for traveling! Now, while this is a great device to help remove moisture from my hearing aids, I wish there was a way I could charge my hearing aids at the same time. Many over the ear hearing aids now offer a case that can charge the aids when being removed from the ears. Unfortunately, my hearing aids don’t have this ability. Hearing aids are different for everyone and I chose to wear in the ear hearing aids, so a charging case simply isn’t an option for me at the moment. Hopefully technology will continue to improve and impact the hearing loss community in a positive way.

Here’s a Little Help:
If you are someone who wears hearing aids day in and day out, I highly recommend investing in something that helps clean them while you are sleeping. I know that finances can be a setback for some people, so I would recommend reaching out to your audiologist for assistance. Click here to view exactly what I use. Please keep in mind that I do replace the case about every two years, since technology continues to advance. I am looking forward to seeing what great devices are out there nowadays as it is currently time for me to replace my hearing aid cleaning case. However, I know I can always purchase the same case that has benefitted me for many years! If it helped me, maybe it will help you!
